What is Altitude AADT's data source, and how does it differ from probe-based products?
Altitude AADT is built from first-party commercial fleet GPS data combined with reference counts, unlike probe products that rely on consumer device signals.
Altitude AADT is built from commercial vehicle GPS traversals collected from the Geotab fleet, combined with road network characteristics and reference counts from FHWA HPMS and state DOT short-term count programs.
This differs from probe-based products that rely primarily on connected passenger devices (smartphones, navigation apps, and IoT sensors) and infer commercial vehicle activity from those signals. Altitude observes commercial vehicles directly, which is why it can deliver vehicle weight group breakouts (Universal, Heavy, and Medium) rather than total volume only.
