What vehicle groups does Altitude AADT cover?

Three groups are available: Universal (all vehicles), Single-Unit (FHWA Classes 4–7), and Combination Truck (Classes 8–13).

Altitude AADT provides estimates for three vehicle weight groups based on Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR):

• Universal: all vehicles combined (commercial and non-commercial). Provides a total volume count across all vehicle types on a given road segment.
• Heavy: GVWR Classes 6-8 (19,501 lbs and above). Captures the large commercial vehicles that drive the majority of pavement loading, freight corridor designation, and bridge loading analysis.
• Medium: GVWR Classes 3-5 (10,001-19,500 lbs). Represents mid-weight commercial vehicles such as delivery trucks and utility vehicles.

This vehicle group breakout allows planners to analyze freight and commercial vehicle volumes independently of total traffic, a capability that distinguishes Altitude AADT from total-volume-only products.
